Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his area.

He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Spurs supporters jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

A particular of those booing episodes really angered Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he's a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game

Italy national team the keeper is in his third campaign with Spurs.

He said following the game that he had to accept the feedback.

"The second goal was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger mountain to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on the team to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to overturn results. This match is a poor defeat and it is tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

Ten seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was 5 moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," he said.

"I was surprised not one of the back four went back to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to make the correct connection and place it towards goal. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although the keeper's mistake led headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to continue their home ground woes.

This was their 10th home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint team statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a unique narrative, today we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on file in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
