Almost 55,000 households have reportedly been affected by the rains, with their belongings and temporary homes destroyed.

Heavy precipitation over the past week have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of uprooted civilians in the territory, as stated by humanitarian organizations.

"Awful" Weather Poses Grave Threats

A spokesman characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with precipitation so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"Last night was truly terrible for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gales were so forceful," stated the representative.

Authorities voice extreme concern that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in wet attire will fall victim to hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

Medical officials have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the severe weather.

Additional accounts put a greater death toll. Spokespeople said that numerous homes had totally fallen and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated shelters submerged.
  • Numerous individuals compelled to find new shelter.

Assistance Distribution Deemed Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up distribution of tents, warm covers and clothing after the halt in hostilities began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are striving constantly to provide that relief and to hand it out, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we still have thousands of families and minors who are really enduring hardship each evening," stated one official.

Ongoing Concerns and Truce Provisions

The second phase of the truce includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Relief organizations have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing relief to meet urgent and ongoing requirements."

The war was sparked by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Following campaigns have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the territory, as per official figures.
