Followers Call for Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who leaped a barricade and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though court documents indicated that he was due to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented a further comment on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some called for online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of fans had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film adaptation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a spin-off of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, securing several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
