Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday

The club confirmed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium on 7 November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
